NIFF Women's Futsal Plate Final
Shankill Leisure Centre
Carnmoney Ladies 3-2 22nd Ladies
Night of the Final came and before we could get to it we were presented with the Division 4 League trophy. We enjoyed that moment but settled down and completed our warm up.
We started well and Abbie cutting the ball back to Kelly to fire the ball into the roof of the net to put us 1-0 up. Unfortunately from a corner Carnmoney equalised within minutes, 1-1.
We then had a moment controversy. One of the Carnmoney players slapped Caroline on the face, what was more unbelievable was none of the 3 referees saw. We settled down and Carnmoney rushed into a 3-1 lead through a mistake by us and a very well taken third. The Carnmoney keeper made two very good stops to deny us before Katrina reduced the deficit with a superb finish to make it 3-2. We pressed on but couldn't find the equaliser.
Second half saw us come out and again control the game. The Carnmoney keeper again the hero making 2 great saves from Emma to protect their lead. They were dangerous on the break and Nicole was off her line quickly to make a good stop to keep us in touching distance. Jade was superb at the back winning every tackle and the girls worked tirelessly to try and get the equaliser but just couldn't find a way past the Carnmoney keeper and defence.
A poor end to a fantastic Futsal season but we will enjoy tonight by celebrating winning Division 4.

NIFF Women’s Futsal Cup Quarter-Final
Shankill Leisure Centre
22nd Ladies 6-7 Foyle Belles
We were drawn against Foyle Belles from Championship in the cup Quarter-Final and they made the long trip from Londonderry to play us. We found ourselves 2-0 down very quickly to some nice play and could have been more behind only for Vicky the bulldozer in nets making a few very good saves. We got one back when a nice interchange of passes saw Emma fire into the top corner, 2-1. Minutes later we were level when the keeper gifted Katrina the ball and she made no mistake in equalising. Foyle scored to go 3-2 up but straight from the centre Abbie smashed a great strike in to make it 3-3. We worked very hard all over the court. Ashley and Jade were very strong at the back. Caroline, Emma, Abbie Courtney and Tanya all worked hard chasing down in midfield. While Katrina and Kelly both had their work cut out against some very good defenders. Foyle made it 4-3 but you guessed it we equalised again through Abbie who is always vocal and encouraging the team forward. Vicky came to the rescue again making a very good save to keep us level going into the break.
Second half and early doors we found ourselves 5-4 down and only for some good saves from Nicole we would have been more down. Emma then shot from distance and he shot took a deflection in past the keeper to make it 5-5, what a game. We pressed and saw a few efforts saved or just wide. We got a corner and Emma drilled it in but it was defended well but on cleared as far as Emma. She lofted the ball in and Katrina met it perfectly to head into the top corner to put us 6-5 up and in-front for the first time in the game. Foyle looked to be running out of steam and ideas and if anything it looked like we would get the next goal. Unfortunately a mistake at the back saw Foyle equalise and their belief came flooding back. Within seconds they scored a seventh to go 7-6 up with a minute left. We threw on all our attacking players but Foyle used their skill and experience to see out the time. Our first defeat in the futsal this year and a very hard to take one.
We will dust ourselves down for the Shield Semi-Final next week v Shamrock.

22nd Ladies 13-4 Queens Ladies
This was our big game win this and we win Division 4. We started of poorly and went a goal down and it took us some time to settle. Katrina then scored a beautiful opening goal to equalise, 1-1. Katrina then put us 2-1 up with a neat finish wrong footing the keeper. Katrina then slipped through Tanya and with her first touch she deftly flicked the ball past the keeper 3-1 and a cracking goal. Not to be out done Kelly got in on the action with a superb solo goal to put us 4-1 up and we were now really dominating. After a bit of pin ball Katrina had a simple tap in to make it 5-1. Katrina then made it 6-1 and she done that daft Ronaldo whoosh with Emma lol. The girls at the back done a great job defending and keeping the Queens players at bay. While our midfield work very hard and Caroline was unlucky not to score a screamer when she plucked the ball out of mid air but her instinctive shot was just wide.
.
Second half we didn’t come out for the first 4 minutes and Queens hauled themselves back to 6-4 with A delightful own goal by Michelle, think she was wearing her crocks at the time. Kelly got us back on track with a nice finish before Emma smashed one into the top corner from distance to put us 8-4 up. Katrina then scored another two classy goals to make it 10-4 and thank goodness no dodgy celebrations. Emma then made it 11 shooting between the keepers legs. Caroline was really unlucky again when her shot destined for the top corner was well saved by the Queens keeper. Kelly then headed us 12-4 up to grab her fourth of the night and there was just time for Katrina to score her sixth to win the game 13-4.
This was a really special night for the ladies with them about to enter their sixth season this is their first major trophy and hopefully the beginning of them pushing on.

22nd Ladies 11-1 Street Soccer
After last weeks good win and other results going for us we were in a strong position in the league going into what would be a tough game. We started well passing the ball accurately and took an early lead when Kelly thumped home to put us 1-0 up. Kelly doubled her own tally and ours by capitalising on a mistake by St Soccer. She got her hattrick moments later with a lovely deft header to put us 3-0 up and in control of the game.
Things heated up a bit with some strong challenges by both sides before Abbie slotted home another good team goal to make it 4-0 and Katrina got in on the act with a nicely taken fifth. We rotated our players to get the best out of them and everyone played their part from Vicky in goal making a couple of decent stops to Ashley, Abbie and Caroline all slotting in at the back to keep us nice and compact when we needed to. Kelly back into the fray got her fourth before Emma rounded of a nice move to put us 7-0 up.
Tanya moved the ball well in the middle along with Abbie, Emma and Caroline. We were just too precise and clinical for St Soccer. Just before the half Kelly scored her fifth to put us 8-0 up and it could have been more only for St Soccer keeper making some very good saves.
At the break we talked about enjoying the game but remaining respectful and watching for runners going by us. Second half saw Katrina settle us down quickly with a good finish, 9-0. We started to let ourselves go a bit with everyone trying to score and Street Soccer came into the game battling hard and offering a lot more going forward. Nicole made a couple of decent stops to preserve the clean sheet before Karina got her hattrick to put us 10-0 up.
Street Soccer then got the goal that they deserved as they never gave up and had created a few opportunities, 10-1. Katrina got her fourth to make the score 11-1 and try as we might we couldn’t get another. Tanya, Caroline and Ashley tried hard but either were off target or the keeper saved well to keep them at bay. Having conveniently forgotten Vicky wanted a run out field (chocolate ankles) she managed to slip on for the last minute and managed not to hurt herself which was a result. Good performance and sees us top of the Division going into Christmas with four wins from four games.

22nd Ladies 9-2 Belfast Ladies
This was our opening game in the revamped Futsal league and started very fast and tense with both teams working extremely hard. 22nd took the lead when Katrina’s shot was too powerful to handle finding the top corner 1-0. We went 2-0 when Abbie making her debut finished off a good team goal. Emma made it 3-0 with another finish from a good team move. With players being rotated to keep them fresh Ashley came on and smashed a forth from distance.
Our Tanya then got on the score sheet to make it 5-0 unbelievably with her right foot which is usually for standing on. Our defence had been very good and on a rare occasion it was breached Vicky was in top form making one really top drawer save. Kelly then got in on the act with a superb low drive into the corner to make it 6-0 before being replaced by Katrina who immediately made it 7-0 with a nice finish. Belfast ladies did beat the impressive Vicky eventually and she set the blame firmly on Emma, poor Emma, 7-1. This was the way it stayed to the break.
At Half time we talked about keeping the ball and working hard for each other and on rotation. Belfast Ladies came out the second half more determined and things heated up and got a bit tasty, but credit to both sides they battled hard and got on with it. Emma then scored a great goal with a lovely step over and roll of the ball followed by a thumping finish into the far corner 8-1. Both sides continued to battle hard and Nicole in nets for Vicky made some very good stops. Abbie who was impressive through out was on the end of another good team move to blast the ball into the near corner to make it 9-1.
Unfortunately Nicole was eventually beaten to make it 9-2. Courtney appeared late and got on for the final 8 minutes showing some nice touches and was very unlucky not to get on the score sheet herself. The game came to a close with Kirker getting his ears burnt from a few on the bench wanting back on for their hatricks but everyone near enough got equal game time and it paid of superbly for us. Some very hard working displays from Caroline and defensively superb Michelle who has grown into a very strong CB.

22nd Ladies 1-4 Rosario
A rearranged game on a pleasant Friday night with the pitch in great condition. The game was quite even with angry Vicky already in the action trying to drive the team forward and scaring everyone in her path. Unfortunately we went behind to a well placed free kick, 1-0. We pushed for an equaliser and Kelly through on goal just over hit the ball allowing the keeper to make a good stop with her feet. With Craig distracting Olivia the winger got by her and Rosario doubled their lead from this. Death stares from Kirker, apologies and after some huffing and puffing we moved on. We then started to play we brought Ashley on for the injured Courtney and she stabilised the midfield and gave us a base from which to build. We started to dominate procession and created a few half chances without really testing the keeper. The one time Rosario got an opportunity Nicole made a fine diving save. We continued to press and it helped the Vicky had terrified the life out of their no 11 plus half our side line lol. We went into the break 2-0 down.
Second half saw us continue to be on the front foot and a bit of needle crept into the game. Both sides started to get a bit physical and the was a few late tackles and a bit of chirping. We continued to press and Kelly through tried to open her body to place the ball but only managed to slice it wide of the goal. Vicky, punctured was replaced by Caroline Rainey who went to the wing and Michelle to centre back. We continued to press and from a scramble Caroline only on managed to scramble the ball over the line for her second goal in 3 games (super sub 22nds very own David Fairclough). 2-1 and we were back in the game. Rosario wobbled a bit and we continued to press for an equaliser and as the clock ticked on we threw caution to the wind and switched to a 343. With the extra player up top and us short at the back it was always a gamble and unfortunately we were made to pay with a good counter attack and a great finish chipping Nicole as she rushed out to narrow the angle, 3-1 and game effectively over. But to our credit we kept at it especially Emma and Katrina who continued to drive the team forward. Again on the break Rosario through on goal saw a shot handled by our super sub, penalty and in the last minute Rosario converted to win the game 4-1. It flattered them to be honest but it was a great game to watch and be involved in.

22nd Ladies 1-4 Killen Rangers ll
Killen made the long journey up to play us for the second time in 3 games and after a very tight game down there. We started very poorly and found ourselves a goal down after some very poor marking and general defensive play. Within minutes we were 2-0 after more rank poor defending. We were creating opportunities at the other end with Kelly shooting wide when through, Courtney trough and having her shot saved. Kelly running across the box was clipped and we were awarded a penalty. Kelly dusted herself down and blasted the ball straight at the keeper who deflected it wide. As luck would have it we gifted Killen a third with yip you guessed it some horrible defending. We then started to wake up some 30 minutes into the game and put Killen under a lot of pressure.
Corner after corner, we had one cleared of the line from Emma, Michelle hit the bar and Charlotte blazed another effort over. We needed a goal before the break to realistically have a chance of getting something out of the game. Unfortunately it didn’t come, 3-0 at half time.
So following a large portion of telling off and a change in some personal we got the second half under way.
We straight away were much better, we defended as we should be by marking and winning the first balls. We also looked very dangerous going forward none more so than when Kelly broke free she tried to open up her body but managed to slash the ball wide. We managed to create a huge amount of pressure but we just lacked the final ball or when we got that right the finish that was needed. We eventually did get a goal back when Katrina broke through and calmly cut her shot back into the corner to make it 3-1 and a glimmer of hope. As we pressed forward we were always open to a good counter attack and Jo made a good diving save to keep us interested. We made more changes and threw the kitchen sink at it to try and get another to really put on the pressure. Emma covered every blade of grass and worked her socks off trying to pull us back into the game. But as was the storey of the game we couldn’t find that clinical finish. Late on Killen got a free kick some thirty yards out, the Killen player floated it beautifully over the wall and into the top corner, a great finish. At that the ref blew for full time and a very frustrating night was brought to a close. Two good tight games against Killen in which we probably could have won both but Killen were clinical infront of goal and we were not !

Allen Park
Antrim Rovers Ladies 6-2 22nd Ladies
After Fridays disappointing defeat away to Killen Rangers we travelled to Allen park to play Antrim Rovers who are flying in the league at present. The conditions were terrible with bouts of very heavy rain making conditions difficult for both teams. We started poorly and continued in this form for most of the first half. Nicole made a good early save to keep the scores level before Antrim number 11 scored a very nice goal to put us 1-0 down. Charlotte was unlucky with a good effort from 20 yards which went straight at the keeper, a few inches either side and it would have found the net. We were a bit all over the place and found ourselves 2 down with what can only be described as awful marking. We got a free kick some 35 yards out. Olivia smacked it towards goal, was it a cross or a shot ? but the ball found its way into the bottom corner, 1-2 and we were back in the game. Unfortunately before we could capitalise and grow in the game 2 mistakes in quick succession saw us go 4-1 down and starting to struggle. It started to look ominous for us when Antrim scored a 5th and looked like they might seriously take us apart. But we held out to the break without conceding further.
Kirker gave them a proper dressing down at half time on lack of marking, desire, excuses and general attitude. Things would need to seriously improve or we could be embarrassed.
We shifted formation to 442 and this seemed to do the trick as we started to hold our own in midfield and win some ball. The game turned into a midfield battle and we started to win some ball. Although Antrim had the majority of the play we came into the game more and certainly held our own. Neither team were creating any chances of note though the 22nd did win a series of corners which caused Antrim a few problems. Their no11 was always a serious danger on the break but we marshalled her better in the second half. Olivia off as she couldn’t breathe along with Vicky who was punctured our new back 4 continued the solid work. Going forward a comedy moment when Katrina blocked a pass with her backside someone shouted great arse and as the ball broke to Katrina she couldn’t control it for laughing. We won another corner and from the resulting scramble Emma was felled in the box. Was it her own player or an Antrim player it was hard to say as the referee pointed to the spot. Up stepped Katrina to score to make it 5-2. We battled on and pressed for a third but unfortunately even the introduction of last week’s hero Caroline Rainey (Not the other one she’s in dog house still) we couldn’t grab another to make it interesting. Billi-Jo made 2 good saves before Antrim Scored from the edge of the box to make it 6-2 and seal a deserved victory.

Killen Village
Killen Rangers ll 4-3 22nd Ladies
We made a very long journey down to Killen on Friday evening with a depleted squad but in confident mood as we had been in good form of late. The game started brightly for us as we made most of the early running. Kelly was very unfortunate not to open the scoring wen she had a shot well saved by the keeper and another wide of the post. Killen were very good wide and made us pay by scoring a good goal on the break to go 0-1 up. We battled back and Kelly through this time made no mistake and blasted home into the far corner, 1-1. We continued to press and probably were just edging the game, when a bit of niggle started to creep in and a few of our players wanted to kill dead things. From a 22nd attack Killen scored probably the goal of the game with a really well worked goal on the counter attack to retake the lead, 1-2. We kept to our guns and pressed to equalise. Jade, Vicky, Abbie and Caroline done very well to stop the Killen strikers from breaking through again. Then Kelly was released down the inside left channel wen by the keeper and she brought her down…. Penalty and a yellow for the keeper. Katrina stepped up to swipe the penalty while Kelly was recovering from quite a heavy fall. Katrina hit the penalty to the keepers right and she made a very good save but fortunately for us the rebound fell for Katrina to burry and bring us level. No more than we deserved and we pressed on in the half looking to go ahead but we couldn’t just find a way through. Things continued to heat up between Caroline and the Killen winger, with angry Vicky lurking in the background. Emma got through some shift in the middle of the park tracking their runners on the big pitch and trying to push us forward. The ref brought a very entertaining half to a close at 2-2.
At half time we spoke about our discipline and the need to not get involved as we were slightly the better side. We again started brightly but that wee feud was simmering on the far touch line. The killen winger got wrong side of Caroline and she brought her down. The Killen side line who behaved very poorly, were on the pitch screaming for a red card (yellow would have been right) the referee obliged and we were down to 10 players! Vicky got us organised and we changed to 4 3 2. Within minutes we conceded another free kick from a dangerous position and Killen went infront with a very good finish, 2-3. It was brilliant to see our team spirit as in times gone by we would have folded and got beaten by a cricket score, but we knuckled down and battled hard to get back in the game. Unfortunately Caitlin who had been very good had to come off with a nasty looking injury. Caroline Rainey on in midfield and she worked her socks off as did every player. We pressed for an equaliser and we got a spell of pressure. From this we won a corner and in the ensuing scramble in the box the killen keeper made a save but Caroline was at hand to poke the ball into the net for her first ever goal ! we were all more delighted for her than with equalising. Killen to be fair rolled their sleeves up and the woman advantage on the big pitch started to tell as they put us under some serious pressure but the back for now with young Abbey-Lea in it was standing firm. Unfortunately the Killen left winger cut inside and bent a good shot into the near top corner to put them back infront. Again it would have been easy to fold but we kept at it even though we were out on our feet we still kept going. Katrina got Kelly away down our right and from a tight angle she smashed a great effort toward the near corner, unfortunately the killen keeper some how kept it out. As hard as we tried we just ran out of time and energy, it was a testimony to how hard we worked when some of our lot were sick after the game through their efforts. We didn’t let the defeat stop us from enjoying the journey home with a few refreshments and some brilliant craic on the bus.

Ambassadors Ladies 1-4 22nd Ladies
A it of a trip to Craigavon to take on Ambassadors and this week and we were without our faithful Leader Kirker. He was washing his hair. Not to worry as Vicky and Jimmy stepped up to manage the team. Although taking a managerial role Angry Vicky may have had too make an appearance…
Ambassadors started strong, but Nicole was quick off her line and making herself big. Winning the ball but taking a knee to the face. With her busted lip she soldiered on. 10 mins later Ambassadors got their first goal.
Heads stayed up and with a whole team effort we continued to push forward. Kelly placed the ball perfectly and Caroline Crossett was through, she couldn’t miss and she didn’t! 1-1 we had evened the playing field before half time.
If Carlsberg did half time talks… it would have been this one! Tactics discussed and subs warmed up, we were ready to go back on.
Olivia completely took their Number 3 out of the game, stuck to her like glue and took the ball off her every time. A great ball placed by Tanya gave Courtney the perfect opportunity to get on score sheet, but wait Kelly comes out of nowhere and takes the shot. 2-1 22ndLadies!
We pressured the keeper and their back line continuously, causing them to make mistake and give away a free kick from a very scoreable 20 yard distance. Only one girl for it, the Captain Katrina Montgomery. She missed. She fired it straight at the face of an Ambassadors player, that will teach them for hurting my friends lip she quietly thought to herself.
Katrina quickly redeemed herself after a great ball over the top from Caroline she was in. She didn’t miss that time. 3-1
A ball disagreement was quickly settled by ‘Manager’ Vicky in a very cool, calm and collected way and play continued.
Ambassadors fought back, but the back four held their line and caught them offside. A tense moment when Nicole seemed to be stuck to the spot, watching the ball dribble along the line. Is it a bird, is it a plane… no its Super Abbie, who swooped in and saved the day.
Katrina’s next shot was saved by the keeper, only for her to spill the ball. Caroline quickly swiped it up and put it in the back of the net. 4-1
Charlotte battled in midfield until her tank was empty and bladder full, off to the bushes her went. Step up the Dark Destroyer, Emma! She had one job, sit in midfield and cause havoc. She did that for a solid 20 mins and the Ref blew his whistle for full time.

22nd Ladies 1-6 Shamrock Ladies
Well the time has come for the first league game of the season for the ladies. After being suitably threatened to win the game after manager Kirker had cut, rolled and marked pitch that day. If all his efforts were in vain then they would pay at training 😈.
The ladies kicked off and started strongly by putting Shamrock off their stride. The game was quite even and Jo was called to make a good save sticking out her right foot to deflect a shot wide. At the other end a good through ball found Kerri through on goal but unfortunately her powerful shot was straight at the Shamrock keeper. Shamrock started to press the 2's and Jo raced off her line to force the Shamrock striker to snatch at her shot which Ashley cleared away. Jo took a kick to avery sensitive spot in this action to which someone was hear say thatll stop anymore babies fir a while. Jo then made a great diving save to her right to keep the scores level. As the half wore on Shamrock were growing frustrated and the 2's were growing in confidence, Carly was everywhere in midfield while Tanya boaked her guts up (what was she eating 👀). The back 3 looked solid and the wing backs were doing a super job pegging back the Shamrock wingers. Unfortunately a dodgy looking offside allowed the Shamrock striker to break free and chip the stranded Bill-Jo, 1-0 Shamrock. The girls battled on and Kerri won a free kick in a dangerous position. Up stepped Tanya (manger was overheard shes the one she will pick out the top bag) to hit the promising set play....but wait she spotted a squirrel in the trees 40 foot about the goal and tried to kill it ! Manager with a red face and possibly the worse free kick in history ! The game flowed back and forth with Jo making another save deflecting a goal bound effort behind for a corner. Shamrock swung in a great corner just under the bar and their Centre back nodded it home, 2-0 Shamrock. The girls battled away to the half and were unfortunate not to get a goal back.
The girls were told at half time more of the same keep battling, fighting and believe in yourselves and theres a result to be had. Also to look out for the keeper as she was always off her line and to try and dip her.
They started sluggish but got into it and again the game was pretty even afair. Unfortunately Shamrock nicked a goal when we switched off a bit to make it 3-0. Young Caitlin making her debut looked Sharpe in midfield and when the Shamrock keeper sliced a clearance to her whole out of her area Caitlin went for it. Her goal bound shot took a deflection and wrong footed the keeper to finish up in the net, 3-1. This lifted the 22nd and they continued to work hard none more so than the 2 wing backs and Carly who was everywhere. The 2's continued to defend stubbornly with Alannah, Ashley and Olivia defending very well. Shamrock broke through on the left and Jo diving to her left made a super one handed save to keep the 2's in the game. But Shamrock got another when Jo got distracted looking at some big lad and misjudged the bounce to gift Shamrock their fourth. Some poor defending for the first time in the game allowed Shamrock to tap home a 5th. Kirker took pitty on Tanya withdrawing her before there was any more boaking on his beautifully cut pitch. Caitlin then had to be withdrawn because of injury and Sam because she was knackered (needs to learn to suck it up better). Shamrock got in down the left again and a good finish in the far corner made it 6 for the night for Shamrock. Shamrock deserved their victory but 22nd can take a lot of positives out of tonight especially with so many new players to the game performing so well.

22nd Ladies 8-1 Queens Ladies
The game started with the 22nd on the front foot against new team Queens and it wasn’t long before a long range effort from Ashley found the back of the Queens net, 1-0 22nd. Queens tried hard to stem the flow off the 22nd but a real pile driver from jade doubled the 2’s lead(she even managed to keep her top on). Ashley then broke through to slot home and make it 3-0, before Katrina missed a golden opportunity to make it 4. Olivia off the bench scored with a neat finish to make it 4-0 and the same player was on hand to put the 22nd 5-0 in-front. Alannah worked hard with happy feet Tanya at the back to keep Queens out but right on half time they pulled a goal back to make it 5-1 at the break.
The 22nd started the second half brightly and Katrina sized up a shot but decided to try and break open the emergency exit (some-one was heard to shout shoot next time). Carly then after a lot of hard work got her reward when she finished beautifully into the far corner to make it 6-1. Katrina with some nice foot work then managed to squeeze the ball in at the near post to make it 7. Shortly after Jade hit home the 8th goal to seal a good victory for the ladies. There was still time for Vicky to make a superb reaction save and Tanya happy feet to get her feet cut off at the Knees, though she did make the most of it (Neymar). Chloe showing some great energy was looking to get her first goal but unfortunately it wasn’t to come.

- NIWFA North Div 2Antrim ForumChimney Corner Ladies 11-5 22nd LadiesAfter a two week break the ladies travelled to Antrim to play Chimney Corner in scorching heat. The game kicked off and very early some poor defending saw the ladies down 2-0. They picked themselves up and a good run by Katrina and cross saw Lauren with what looked like a simple finish. But with sleeves and shirts rolled up to her oxters they must have nipped her at the crucial moment and she fluffed her lines. Unfortunately for the 2's Chimney Corner broke away and got a third. Some neat play in midfield released Katrina. As she raced through clear on goal she just over ran the ball sending it through to the keeper. At the other end Gina made a good stop to keep it respectable at this early stage. The ref called a halt 20 mins in for a water break. This gave the 22nd manager a chance to give them a right roasting for an abysmal display. The girls came out and a nice through ball released Katrina and this time she raced clear and thumped the ball home to make it 3-1. Minutes later with Katrina off the pitch heaving up her guts (morning sickness was mentioned by knocked up Jo) Lauren raced clear and finished to make it 3-2 to put the ladies back in it. The ladies really started to turn the screw and a corner from Tanya was met by Sam who headed the ball goal ward only to see the keeper make a great save and tip it onto the bar. Katrina then flattened the keeper trying to get the rebound. Unfortunately the equaliser wouldn't come and Chimney Corner knocked in another 3 before the half to make it 6-2 at half time. The second half saw the ladies come out and work very hard and defend a lot better. Ashley making some great challenges and clearances. Unfortunately Chimney Corner scored another 2 goals to go 8-2 up. The ladies rallied and Lauren using her pace got in behind again and again finished very well to make it 8-3. This sparked chimney corner back to life and they scored another 3 goals in quick succession. The ref called another water break and the ladies were told to go out play football and enjoy the last 20mins.They did that and it wasn't long before a good throw from Natasha saw Katrina slip in Carly who finished calmly into the far corner, 11-4. Minutes later Tanya and Katrina played a nice one two and with Katrina beating two players she slotted home to make it 11-5. Natasha with all her hard work almost got the goal she deserved but she caught her shot to well and saw it hit the side net. Claire, Vicky and Rebekah all came on and made great impacts. To their credit the ladies battled to the end in terrible heat. - Friday, 4th May 2018NIWFA South 2Sally GardensSt. Oliver Plunkett Ladies v 22nd LadiesThe match started on pretty even terms. The 2s were settling in well to their positions. No real chances made from the ladies in the opening minutes. Plunkett kept putting the ball out to their left and had some success when the midfielder cut in for one on one with the keeper. 1-0 Plunkett .The 2s couldn’t get into the game at this point and again plunket targeting our right hand side quickly made it 2-0.The girls never gave up and with some good work from Lauren on the left she was in on goal with a last ditch tackle from a plunket defender to take the ball away from her. After this plunket scored another 2 goals with half time approaching. 4-0 Plunkett .Half time brought around some changes. Vicky came off, jade moved in to central defence, Tanya dropped back and Courtney up in behind katrina. The 2s started the second half brightly. Some good work by Sam and Natasha on the left put Sam through one on one with the keeper but her shot was well held. With the 2s pushing up to find a breakthrough Plunkett found some luck on their right side and again cut through one on one and got a lucky goal against the run of play. 5-0 Plunkett .Lauren was still having some success on the left side and her crosses were being met but nothing to trouble the keeper with. Again, Plunkett broke up field and shot from outside the box and made it 6-0.The 2s kept pushing forward with Courtney, Sam and Katrina all having chances. Plunkett keeper saved well. Katrina hit the bar. The girls kept their heads up but it Just wasn’t our night. 22nd Ladies took part in IFA Street soccer Tournament at Valley 36.
The ladies kicked off against Belfast Ravens and with Gina making her debut in nets. A strike from 5 yards by Ashley settled the game 1-0 to the 22nd Ladies.
The second game saw a lot of pressure from 22nd but they couldn't break down Rosario Ladies and the game finished 0-0.
The third game saw Tanya strike twice either side of Laura's good finish to put the 22nd 3-0 up. Right at the end scuttle managed to eventually score to make it 4-0.
The last game saw the 22nd play against Belfast Swifts. This game was a more even a fair. But the 2's were unlucky not to get a winner when Lauren broke through down the left a couple of times only to see her efforts well saved by the Swifts keeper. Full time 0-0.
This was a great day rounded off with pizza for all provided by Street Soccer ! They were well received and a few ladies moved quicker to get the pizza than they did on the pitch. Not pointing any fingers at JO. A day were football was truly the winner.

Chimney Corner Ladies 16-2 22nd Ladies
The game started brightly for the ladies with Katrina getting through on goal nearly from the kick off only to see her shot saved. Chimney Corner were given far to much time and space and as a result scored 5 goals without reply. Jo making a couple of good saves and young Caitlyn coming close to getting a goal back. Katrina eventually got a goal for her hard work with a lovely run and a nice finish to make it 5-1. At the back we looked shaky and 2 more goals before the half made it 7 despite the hard work of the ladies.
At HT the girls were told enjoy it, keep the ball better, play football and work harder.
The second half saw a couple of early goals for Chimney Corner and the heads dropped. Jo made a couple of good saves and 1 superb save touching a rocket of a shot onto the cross bar. Katrina got a second goal for the 22nd by meging the keeper. Natalie making her 22nd debut done well and worked hard. There was a few passages of some really nice football by 22nd. Keeping the ball and moving it well. Tasha nearly scored ehen she rose at the back post only to see her header well saved. But unfortunately it wasn't to be and Chimney Corner Ladies ran out comfortable winners.
There were positives for our ladies with two debutantes tonight in Natalie and Caitlyn doing well. Plus some nice football at times but as always it's about enjoying the game of football and our ladies definately do win loose or draw.

22nd Ladies 8-9 CSP Ladies
Back on home soil the 22nd faced a depleted CSP team with Vicky stepping into goals to help them out. The 2's got out of the blocks quickest and Katrina opened the scoring 1-0. Jo made a good save at the other end to keep us in front. Tasha shot wide before Katrina made it 2-0 finishibg from close range. Minutes later Katrina made it 3-0 22nd and the girls were of to a flyer or so it seemed. Some awful defending and to be fair good CSP play saw them score 3 quick fire goals to make it 3-3. CSP continued to move the ball well and 22nd were poor in marking and picking up runners which allowed cap to full advantage. They fired in another 3 before the half to make it 6-3 at HT.
Second half started and quickly CSP made it 7. The 22nd management were not pleased and urged their team for a response. A quick free quick by Olivia saw CSP keeper jump over the ball like a scalded cat 7-4. The girls got their tails up and Katrina fell on Top of dodgy Vicky to make it 7-5. Natasha made it 7-6 with a neat finish. 22nd thought they were level but Katrina had score direct from a kick in ruled out. Ball went down the other end and unfortunately Jo coul dnt keep it out to make it 8-6. Katrina got another to make it 8-7. The 2's pushed for an equaliser but it was CSP who scored again to make it 9-7. In the dieing minutes Katrina pulled it back again to make it 9-8. Unfortunately time ran out and CSP held on to win 9-8.

Ballynahinch Ladies 8-4 22nd Ladies
Ladies travelled to Lisburn to play their second game v Ballynahinch in a very small Laurelhill community college. Both teams observed a minutes silence impeccably in Remembrance of sthose who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.
The game started with the 2's on the front foot and pushing very hard to get the opening goal. The Ballynahinch keeper making a couple of good saves. It was a result of the pressure that Ballynahinch broke away twice to score in quick succession to go 2-0 up. The girls looked gutted as they had been very much on top. Unfortunately Ballynahinch added a third. Natasha making her debut got the girls going and after a few good efforts got a goal back by blasting home to make it 3-1. Ballynahinch scored a 4th and 5th but on came Sam to finish a good move nicely to make it 5-2. Right on half time Ballynahinch got their 6th. 6-2 HT.
Second half started as the first had with 22nd putting on the pressure but Ballynahinch broke away to make it 7. The girls responded and Katrina fired home a good angled shot to make it 7-3. Jade got a deserved goal when she slammed home to make it 7-4 and put 22nd in the hunt. The Ballynahinch keeper made a string of superb saves from nearly ever 22nd player to keep them in front. With Jo making a superb treble save at the other end and sweeping up well both keepers were excellent. Olivia had to leave play after a heavy tackle and unfortunately Ballynahinch scored and 8th to wrap up the points. But a super game to watch and very unfortunate not to take more from the game.

22nd Ladies 1-8 Chimney Corner Ladies
The ladies kicked off and win in seconds were a goal down to some poor defending. The girls rallied and Katrina came close on 3 occasions to draw level. Carly worked hard in middle and herself unlucky not to score. But Chimney Corner extended their lead to 2 then 3. Some good saves from jo kept the 2's in the game. Jade the rock was shooting from everywhere and was very unfortunate not to score. Scuttle came close but spun her shot wide. Tanya came on and tried to control play with her close control. But unfortunately just before the break Chimney Corner made it 4-0. Vicky decided to bull doze her way through and 3 50-50 tackles later she nearly made it. Laura was a hairs width of the far post with a good effort. HT 4-0 Chimney Corner.
The Ladies battled hard in the second half but unfortunately conceded a 5th. But a nice move and a good finish between the keepers legs by kaitlyn saw the 22nd score a much deserved goal, 5-1. Chimney Corner scored 3 more but Bill-jo was very good in goal making a string of saves as Did the Chimney Corner keeper from Katrina, Carly, Jade and Kaitlyn. Then finish result 8-1 did not reflect the game but chimney Corner were deserved winners.

22nd Ladies 0-0 Ballinahinch Ladies
The 2's not really warmed up properly were very sluggish to start with Ballinahinch making the early running. Eventually we started to get into the game and Katrina came close to opening the scoring. Jade made a good save with her face to keep scores level and scuttle showed some nice touches. Laura dine well at the back to keep the scores 0-0 and that's how it finished.
22nd Ladies 0-0 MidUlster Ladies
Both teams started well and Ashley moved to CM certainly helped to give the 2's more balance. Again Katrina came close to scoring squeezing a shot just wide. With Carly working hard up and down giving good options. Katelyn working hard with Laura to keep out MidUlster. Both teams battled hard but again 0-0.
22nd Ladies 0-0 Bangor Ladies
This was a hard fought game with both sides working hard and struggling to create openings. 22nd got a glimpse of goal but Katrina shot wide. Happy feet showed some nice skills and Jade punching clear well under pressure. But you guessed it finished 0-0.
Silver Cup Semi final
22nd Ladies 0-1 Newtown Ladies
The 2's started very well and quickly Katrina through on goal only to pull her shot wide. Seconds later scuttle through with the goal at her mercy and keeper down must have got distracted by that seagull again and back passed to the keeper. Katrina showed some nice feet but unfortunately blasted her shot of the bar. Britney was opening the wallet to try and buy a goal. The girls battled hard but just coul dnt get the break through. Unfortunately with penalties looming the very last seconds Newton broke through and finished past the brick. 1-0 Newtown
