22nd Youth Girls U13's 1-0 St Mary's Girks U13's

After last weeks poor result we knew we had to up our game and play as a team. The game started pretty evenly with neither team creating many chances. Abbie-Lea in goal swept up well behind our back 3 of Alex, Cameron and Angel. Bethany was unlucky with a couple of efforts flying narrowly wide. Katie worked hard in midfield and battled hard. Amy just couldnt get away and Kenzi battled hard to make inroads down the right. Aimee free from Goalkeeping duties showed some nice touches in midfield with Abbey. Both teams battled away without creating any real chances of note apart from the odd scramble at corners. 0-0 Ht

Second half showed us come out and pass the ball much better. We pressed St Mary's and won a corner. The corner was wiped in and after a scramble Amy poked it home, 1-0 22nd. The girls got their goal and now had to dig in to defend it. St Mary's put us under some pressure and an offside call pulled us out when they looked to be away. We defended well and worked out socks off to keep them out. We managed to see out the game to grab a very welcome and much needed win. 1-0 FT.

Ballynagross Girls U13's 4-0 22nd Youth Girls U13's

Having beat Ballynagross in the league previously we went into this game with high expectations. Ballynagross started strong and we seemed to be still in bed. We couldnt clear our lines or pass to another red shirt. Ballynagross took the lead when we couldnt clear and their winger shot through a crowd of players to make it 1-0. We had a few half opportunities but couldnt really create anything of note. Bethany was unlucky with a drive from distance. Aimee in 22nd nets raced of her line twice to clear danger. She also made a good save, but could do nothing about the second goal which was thumped in from the edge of the box, 2-0. Ballynagross played well and were in control of the game through to the half.

We talked about our commitment and effort at half time, which needed to be redoubled. But unfortunately Ballynagross picked up were they left off in dominating the game. It wasnt long before they added a third to put the game beyond us. The girls heads went down but they kept going and didnt give in. While we couldnt fashion any real further opportunities we kept going. At the closing stages Ballynagross got their 4th to top of a good performance for them and to take away the 3 points. We move onto next week with a lot of work to be done in training.

22nd Girls Youth U13's 6-1 Belfast Swifts U13's

We started very well and looked very dangerous from the start. We opened the scoring when Amy broke away down the left and fired home into the far corner, 1-0 22nd. We continued to press and the Swifts keeper made a good save. Amy in the resulting corner and the keeper could only push it into the net, 2-0. Angel, Bethany and Cameron worked well in midfield to feed the strikers. Under pressure the Swifts keeper passed straight to Kenzi who through on goal finished well into the far corner, 3-0. The Swifts in a rare break into our half broke through down out left. The Swifts player struck a ferocious shit which Aimee done superbly well to save. But she swung a foot at it missed the ball and a Swifts player tucked it home, 3-1. We kept the pressure up and Amy made it 4-1 with a lovely chipped finish. A goal anyone would be proud of and a great way to get her hat trick. The half came to an end and we were quite sluggish.

After a bit of a telling of for taking the foot off the girls came out and doubled their efforts playing into a stiff breeze. Aimee made a good save with her toe to keep us 4-1 up. We started to keep The Swifts penned in their own half and a fourth goal from Aimee made it 5-1. The back three of Abbey, Alex and Abbey-Lea were very strong and disciplined. They simply wouldn't allow Belfast Swifts out of their own half. We then witnessed a moment of real class when Kenzi turned 1 player, beat another and from 20 yards banged the ball into the top corner ! 6-1 and what a goal to round things off, great hit ! Cameron and Angel both had sights of goal but just couldn't convert. A pleasing second half performance came to an end seeing out the game 6-1 into the wind.

22nd Youth Girls U13's 0-2 Roe Valley Girls U13's

A very cold Sunday saw us back at Girdwood hoping for another good result. Both teams started well but didnt really forge any opportunities. Roe were a big side and had a couple of very quick tricky players. But the girls stuck to their task and battled away. We won a couple of corners but to be fair Roe defended them very well. It was from the last one of these that Roe counter attacked down our left. The ball was cut across and their small striker made no mistake when through on Aimee, 1-0 Roe. Megan worked hard with Cameron and Bethany in midfield to try and get us back in the game. We couldnt get the goal back before the break, 1-0 HT.

Second half saw us show a wee bit more fight and we tried to take the game to a very good Roe side. Abbey got a bit of space and from distance saw her shot tipped round the post by the keeper. Angel on at the start of the second half made done nice passes and Alex was very strong at the back. The defence done well as a whole with Abbey-Lea, Alex and Cameron tackling well. Going forward Kenzi and Amy tried but couldnt find a way through. Abbey and Angel done their best in midfield but unfortunately from a corner we conceded a second. It was crossed in and the Roe player was first to react poking home the ball, 2-0. As hard as we tried we couldnt get a goal to get us back in the game and it finished 2-0. Que a lot of disappointed girls, but we move onto next week were we will go again.

22nd Youth Girls U13's 5-0 Carnmoney Ladies U13's

A cold Sunday afternoon saw our young Ladies take to the field on the back of some poor results. Olivia set her formation up and the instructions were keep your shape, have fun and play as a team. Some early pressure from Carnmoney was weathered thanks to some great defending by our back 3 of Abbey, Alex and Abbey-Lea. The midfield of Megan and Cameron battled hard to get us into the game even winning a few headers ! Some good battling by Kenzi gave Bethany a glimpse of space. She turned superbly, drove into the space, bearing down on goal from a tight angle she superbly finished past the keeper into the far corner, 1-0 22nd. We kept up the pressure and again some great battling saw the ball break to Amy who turned her marker superbly to break through. She held of a challenge to finish superbly past the Carnmoney keeper, 2-0 and the Girls were playing superbly. Kenzi soldiered on after getting thumped in the face with the ball, she will end up looking like badly Brian if she keeps getting it straight in the face. What was pleasing was both full backs tried to get forward and start attacks and we held our shape superbly well.

Second half saw us start well and a speculative shot from Amy crept in at the far post to put us 3-0 up and settle us down. At the other end Aimee made a good save to keep her clean sheet intact. At the other end the Carnmoney keeper raced of her line to deny Any a Hat-trick. We had a wee moment of comedy. Alex was over taking a throw,  when Abbey went to kick a stray ball back onto neighbouring pitch. Bang she hit Alex up the coupon 😂🙈. The girls kept working hard and forced a corner. Amy drove the ball low and hard into the crowded box. It fell to Abbey who from close range made no mistake to put us 4-0 up with a neat finish. We kept up our tempo, putting Carnmoney under pressure and opportunities came. Megan shot wide, Bethany a few speculative shots wide, before she caught one lovely and chipped the Carnmoney keeper from distance to make it 5-0. This rounded of a great all round team display from our young ladies. Hopefully we can take this form into next week.

Bloomfield Girls U13's 4-0 22nd Youth Girls U13's

The 22nd girls started off slowly by allowing Bloomfield time on the ball which allowed them to play passes and have shots. Unfortunately a strong Bloomfield side scored twice in the first half to stamp their authority on the game. Amy and Bethany upfront created plenty of opportunities by making runs and showing great movement across the pitch. Bloomfield went went into the break 2-0 up.

Bloomfield showed a threat to our defensive line which allowed them to score 2 more goals. We continued to work hard all over the pitch putting Bloomfield under a bit of pressure. The girls kept plugging away but we just couldn't find a way past the Bloomfield back line. Unfortunately, today wasn’t the 22nd’s day but a lot of learning was shown in today’s match against Bloomfield

Belfast Swifts U13's 2-0 22nd Youth Girls U13's

Our first game back after the Christmas break saw us travel to play Belfast Swifts. The girls started off slowly allowing Belfast Swifts to break through and secure an early goal. After a slow start the girls started to play some football, showing great passing skills and driving into space although with a strong Belfast Swifts backline the 22nd weren’t able to break through. The girls kept trying to play their way through but to no avail, 1-0 at the break.

There was a high level of determination and motivation within and the Girls pressed to get an equaliser. Unfortunately the Swifts broke through to score a second to go 2-0 up. The 22nd didnt give up but unfortunately it wasn’t their day, although the score line definitely didn’t reflect their play. We will move onto next week in hope of a better result.

St Mary's Girls U13's 8-3 22nd Youth Girls U13's

Both sides impeccably marked a minutes silence before the game to remember all those who gave the ultimate sacrifice in war for our freedom. The game started quite even and we were very unlucky not to go in front when Amy hit the post. St Mary's when confront with a wonder goal from 20 yards into far too corner. Minutes later they added a second. Amy through on goal dragged her shot wide. Kenzie on a battling run muscled her way past 3 defenders before her shot being forced out. St Mary's added another 2 goals and the girls just went at it. Bethany worked hard, Abbie-Lea, Megan, Aimee and Cameron worked to keep St Mary's at bay to the break.

Half time saw a shuffle with Abbie coming outta goal and she had an immediate impact by giving us an outlet. From a corner she slammed the ball into the roof of the net, 4-1. Minutes later she picked the ball up beat 2 St Mary's players and lashed a great hit into the far top corner, 4-2 and was there a come back on ? We missed a chance to make it 4-3 and St Mary's went down the other end to make it 5-2. This killed off any comeback and St Mary's ran in 3 more. We did get a third goal when Kenzie fired home but a poor first half had left us with far to much to do. But they all enjoyed it and are looking forward to the next game.

Roe Valley Girls U13's 1-3 22nd Youth Girls U13's

Today our U13’s played Roe Valley up in Allen Park and secured a 3-1 win.

The girls went in from the start determined to come out with a win. They worked very hard all over the pitch. We defended very wwell when we needed to and looked dangerous in attack. Some lovely passing secured a goal from Kenzie returning from injury before the first half whistle.

The half time team talk made the girls more determined to go out and battle against a strong side. 22nd where slow starting from the 2nd half which lead Roe Valley to scoring an equaliser. The girls started to waken up by securing a 2-1 lead with Bethany striking the ball home. Roe Valley kept possession with a few strikes on goal but with Abbie in nets they didn’t manage to get another goal. Bethany and Amy both attacked the Roe Valley goal but couldn’t manage to secure a goal until the ball came out of the box and a 20yrd strike from Meagan flew into the bottom corner which secured a 3-1 win!

Larne Girls U13's 3-3 22nd Youth Girls U13's

Today our u13s took on larne ladies in the south Belfast youth league

The Girls were slow starting with a few mistakes. This led to Larne opening the scoring to make it 1-0. We werent really switched on in the first half which lead them to be 1-0 down at half time. larne ladies were definitely the stronger side and had us under a bit of pressure.

First half over the girls were giving up already but with a Good team talk at half time got the girls switched on and ready for second half. They came out and played much better, some good passing good choices. We got back in the game when Bethany equalised. Larne went 2-1 up before Amy equalised to make it 2-2. Bethany then scored to put us in front 3-2. Unfortunately it wasn't to last and Larne equalised to make it 3-3. An amazing team effort in a very tight game but the girls didnt give up right till the end and with a 3-3 result the girls done amazing.

Dungiven Celtic Girls U13's 8-0 22nd Youth Girls U13's

Unbeaten in their opening 3 matches the girls travelled to place league favourites Dungiven in terrible conditions. Dungiven started of strong and scored early from distance to go 1 up. The girls battled away but Dungiven moved the ball well and put us under pressure but good defending and hard work kept them at bay. Eventually though the pressure took its toll and Dungiven fired in 3 more goals before the half to take a comfortable 4-0 lead. Our girls did break forward a few times but the Dungiven centre back was too quick and recovered to stop Amy and Bethany.

At half time we talked about not diving in, working hard and helping each other. The girls started well and worked hard to stop a very impressive Dungiven but some of their finishing was very good and gave Amiee very little chance in goal. Dungiven ran in another 4 goals to go 8 up and put the game well to bed. Abbie did break away down the left a couple of times showing lovely footwork but again the Dungiven defence were just to strong for us. Full time and a drenched 22nd team tasted defeat for the first time in the league. Onto the next game and we will learn from this defeat.

Belfast Swifts Black 2-2 22nd Youth Girls

Today our U13’s Girls played in the SBYL against Belfast Swifts Black at Brook Activity Centre. The girls played well from the kick off by attacking the ball early and applying pressure to the ball, which allowed us to secure and early goal from Amy. Bethany was very unlucky not to score when a great drive smashed of the post with the keeper beaten. Abbie-Lea, Abbie and Kenzi keep the defence tight and Swifts at bay. Megan Kensi and Bethany worked their wee socks off in midfield and Amiee making a couple of good stops. Leading up to half time Belfast Swifts scored an equaliser which made the 2’s work even harder to secure another goal before the half time whistle. A lovely long range finish from Bethany over the Swifts keeper, great hit kid. 2-1 at the break.

Half time team talk made the team go out in the 2nd half and work harder. They done amazing considering we only had 9 players and no subs. They were very unlucky not to score a 3rd and put the game to bed. But the girls were tiring and Swifts fresh legs began to turn the tide. They scored a very good equaliser. When it looked touch and go our defence worked very hard to keep the Swifts out. With some great tackles and clearances Finishing score line 2-2.

Ballynagross Girls U13's 1-4 22nd Youth Girls U13's

The young ladies went into their second league game on the back of last weeks good win v CSP. The girls started brightly and worked hard to win procession high up the pitch. Amy and Kenzi looked to have left her shooting boots in the house missing a couple of good early chances. Abbey, Bethany and Kelsie worked hard in midfield to win back procession while the defence of Cameron, Alex and Abbey-Lea looked very secure and made some super tackles. Ballynagross striker fired in a low shot that was destined for the bottom corner, only for Amiee driving to her right, she pushed it superbly onto the post. Eventually we got our goal when Amy found the net to put us 1-0 up. Unfortunately it wasnt to last when Ballynagross broke through and a good finish gave Amiee no chance, 1-1. Both teams battled away to half time with the Ballynagross keeper making a couple of good stops.

Second half saw us under early pressure but our subs Kelsy, Katie and Megan added fresh legs helping us weather the pressure. We broke away and Amy finished well to make it 2-1. We continued to press them and another goal saw Amy get her hatrick, 3-1. Abbey and Bethany were bossing the midfield, it was them who fed Amy for her hers and our fourth goal. At the other end Amiee made a good stop, even though she was growing roots on the line. Kelsie thought she had got her first goal but unfortunately she was just offside. With the wee faces getting redder and redder the ref decided that time was up. Bringing an end to a good display from both teams. Some very pleasing points for us were our understanding of the offside, being safe in defence and the amount of chances we created. Full time 4-1 and two wins from two in the league.

CSP Girls U13's 1-7 22nd Youth Girls U13's

Well the day had come ! Our young ladies first competitive game and they couldn't wait to get at it.

The game started off with CSP being more switched on which secured them of their early goal. 22nd Girls where soon to equalise the score line, holding possession of the ball which led to many strikes unluckily hitting the post several times. This give the girls an urge to battle even more for the win. One of our youngest players Amy McBride secured the equaliser which give the girls a boost to go and get a win. The girls used the width of the pitch to drive towards the CSP net which secured them another 2 goals from Abbie a Martin and Bethany Mckinnon before half time.

Half time team talk made the girls more driven to go out and show themselves. An early penetrating pass from Abbie M down the wing allowed Amy McBride to secure a 4-1 lead. 3 more  goals came from Kenzie Whiteside securing 2 and another from Bethany. The girls were superb from front to back showing that they do actually listen to their coaches now and again at training 😂 Amazing result for the girls today and deserved the win 💙
